First Digi-Crop a Success!!!

Had my first Digi-Crop today and had 9 people here!! Okay, so two were grandsons just chillin with us for a bit and one was my husband .. but we had fun!! Had some light refreshments .. can I say roast beef and turkey roll-ups are the bomb!!!



I had two new people here through our Scrapless in Portsmouth Meetup group. They were able to get some information on Heritage Makers the company and the products. I enjoyed meeting both of them and hope to have many more opportunities to get togehter with them as we gather to discuss digital storybooking.



My mom was able to get some ideas together about a Family Tree Storybook she wants to work on. I think this prompted her to go home and get those pictures together so we can start working on her project! A friend from church has already finished one project and was able to begin work on another one and got some of her questions answered about the studio. My daughter activated her account, started and FINISHED a project all in one session!!! All-in-all the digi-crop was a huge success in my eyes ... I had fun and that's what counts!!



I have scheduled our next Digi-crop for October 11th and can't wait to get some of my projects in before then so I can share them with the others.



Can I just say ... I LOVE HERITAGE MAKERS!!!!!!

I LOVE MY JOBS!!!!

That is something you do not hear very often ... but I have to say I REALLY LOVE my jobs!!! Oh, and not just one, but two!! I know they are new, but already I can say that I am feeling incredibly rewarded in working the businesses.

Beacon Errand and Concierge awards me the opportunity to help others ... something I think I was meant to do!! I love going to my neighbor's house and letting their dogs out while they are at work, I love running to the grocery store for the mother of two that is just too busy at her job to pick up what she needs for dinner and I love running by the dry cleaner to pick up the laundry for a couple that is leaving for a trip and doesn't have time to get to the cleaners. I feel empowered when I'm helping others and turning that into a business is an awesome thing!! I named the company Beacon Errand and Concierge with the motto ... let us be the light to your personal lifestyle management needs ... and that's exactly how I feel about it. As a Christian, I feel a blessing from being able to help others which is one of the reasons I had an in-home daycare for over 25 years ... I love children and I love helping others! With BEC I also am rewarded by being able to provide help to others!

Heritage Makers is equally rewarding for me! In a bit of a different way. Heritage is something very important to me for many reasons, but the most important one is that our heritage is something that will fade or be forgotten if we do not preserve it. I lost my father when I was 10 years old and without the stories and photos being put into a life lasting product that my children and their children can see, the heritage of my father would be lost! My father was a pretty important man in our area as an athlete and we have boxes and boxes of photos, newspaper articles, etc about him and his performances, his life, his legacy. But my children and my grandchildren do not really know him, not like I did, not like he should be remembered. But that will change when his "Heritage", his legacy is put into a storybook! So that for one reason is why I became a Heritage Maker consultant! So I can help other families put their stories, their family's heritage into storybooks so their children and their grandchildren will know about the heroes in their family! My hero was my father and I do not want him to be forgotten!! So I love my job with Heritage Makers!! I love being able to share my story and to help others preserve theirs.

And right now is such an exciting time in the life of Heritage Makers!! We have just introduced some fantastic new products, are unveiling a brand new "studio" October 1st and have some awesome hostess rewards coming up for October!! One great thing about HM too is that you can hold a workshop ONLINE!!! So if someone wants the rewards of earning products by hosting a Workshop, but does not really want to have one in their home ... we can have an online workshop!!! It's as easy as setting a date with me, emailing (and I will do that for you!) friends, family, co-workers and neighbors with the date and link, then we all sit down at our computers in our pj's and watch the workshop right at home!!! So cool!!!! We do NOT even have to live close to one another to do an online workshop!!!

Another wonderful, exciting thing about Heritage Makers is the possibilities offered to anyone wanting to start their own home-based business. You can run your business as a hobby, as a part time job or if you like, do as I'm doing, and run it as a full time business!! It's totally up to you!

Nanny Goes Digital Sprang Into Action

In search of income earning venues the thought occurred to me that in home party sales might be something I'd like to do. I began looking into companies that offered things that interested me. I soon discovered this company called Heritage Makers ... and quickly fell in love! They have products that are absolutely wonderful!!! I couldn't wait to join the team! The opportunity to take all my photos and turn them into works of art in the form of storybooks, playing cards, calendars, spiral books, greeting cards, invitations, posters, scrapbook pages and lots more is just amazing!! I found the quality to be outstanding and as soon as I finish a project and publish it it's at my front door in less than 2 weeks!!! It's fun, easy, quick and rewarding. You are able to work on your project right from your computer using their website at your convenience. The art work is out of this world!!! What could be better than preserving your family's heritage through storybooks. A storybook celebrating the birth of a baby, a cornerstone book telling the story of our children's grandparents, a board book for a little one to have all of their own all about them, a bragbook for grandma to carry in her purse ... or what would be more fun than playing a card game with a deck of cards that are full of our family photos??? It is amazing ... it is fun ... it is fabulous ... it is our heritage and preserving it is for keeps!!!

So Nanny Goes Digital sprang into action as I created the name to fit my new motto ... I, Nanny, am going digital and finally am going to get all my pictures in books I can share with my family and friends. I ordered my kit, started working on some storybooks of my own and started scheduling my first workshops. Rewarding is not strong enough a word to describe how I feel about being a Personal Publishing Consultant for Heritage Makers. I am thrilled to be part of the team and to have the opportunity to share with others these high quality products that will preserve the heritage of families for years to come.

Beacon Errand And Concierge Was Born

Why did I choose an errand and concierge business, you might ask? I guess the answer to that question is that I have always found joy in serving others! Satisfied in being a stay-at-home mom I didn't miss having a career out of the home, but I did want to stay busy and found much joy in volunteering. I have for over 30 years worked in different capacities in our church and have served in our children's PTA, and worked with our local Relay For Life/American Cancer Society program. In my daycare business I always felt it was a worthwhile career in that it provided a service to others and in keeping with that love I searched the Internet and my heart for a service oriented business. When I came across some information on errand and concierge businesses it just fit! All the years I worked as a daycare provider, day after day I would hear the parents complain of all the things they had to do and did not know how they were going to accomplish all the tasks before them. Many days rushed parents would try to stop by the grocery store before picking up the children in an attempt to grab a few items for dinner. Beacon Errand and Concierge was born!!
The next days and weeks were spent researching, organizing, putting together a business plan, obtaining a business license, bonding and liability insurance. I then began promoting and advertising. Most of my advertising has been getting the word out to friends and family, getting brochures and business cards out to businesses, building and designing a website and talking to people about creative ways to advertise. With little money to invest, the publicity has been hard, but patience is winning out as I rely on word of mouth and hold on to the confidence that the business will grow and clients will come in. I have had the pleasure of providing service to three clients and have more jobs on the calendar.
To anyone wanting to step out in faith and start a new career or launch your own business I say go for it. But first be certain you have the faith to hang in there. Know when to push and when to fold. One thing I do not recommend is to leave one job or stop one business to begin another, in my opinion never a good idea, but particularly today in the economy in which we live! With me, having the opportunity two years in a row to make a career change I felt I just had to take the plunge and one thing I knew for certain was that I did not want to work just to have a job ... I wanted to work because I love my job! I don't know how things will pan out, I don't know how I will feel in a year, but I do know that I love providing service for others, I love helping make other people's lives a bit easier .. and why not make a career out of making other's lives happier and easier ... it's just seems like a good fit!!

What Began This Change?

As I said, for over 25 years I provided daycare services in my home and loved every minute of it! Well almost every minute if the truth be told. Now mind you, I loved most all of the children and had some really great parent's as clients ... what you must understand is that it is a very isolating career. You are in the same house in which you live for some days as much as 12 hours with the excursion of the day being the walk down the driveway to the mailbox!! But I am a very patient and pretty loving person, so it was not that hard, after all, I managed for 25 years!!
June 11, 2008, I had gastric by-pass surgery and in 10 month's time lost over 160 pounds. I was always a pretty active person staying involved in volunteering at church and with Relay For Life and stayed on the go ... but after loosing the weight, I found it harder and harder being cooped up in the house day after day ... I wanted to get out and about. I made the career choice last summer to begin watching only children of school teacher's giving me the same breaks my grandchildren had including summer's off thinking that would help with the feeling of confinement. This summer I had the opportunity to make some changes and get out of the daycare business completely ... so I did!
The biggest challenge was deciding what I wanted to do. I read through the classified adds, searched the Internet but could not find anything that fit my bio ... a 54 year old female with no experience or education other than providing babysitting services. So I had to think out of the box. And that's exactly what I have done!!
Now I'm not saying it has been easy making these changes. There already have been challenges and I'm only a couple of months in it, but I am happy to be embarking on a new part of my life as I get my not one ... but two businesses up and running.
I encourage anyone thinking about starting a new career, or a new business to take the plunge! I would not recommend quiting your job to start up a new one unless you have the funds to support yourself in the interim ... but the joys I have received so far and it's early in the process are more than I could have imagined!
In the days/weeks/months to come I hope to share my challenges, what I learn along the way, my successes and my fears as I walk this road to the new me, the new life the new career.
